Mörköpeli's last update 2.3.5 is finally here! The game will no longer receive any feature updates, only critical bugs will be fixed if such are found.

Mörköpeli's latest version 2.3.4.x have had a bug since its release affecting all new user accounts. On first login it's supposed to initialize Mörköpeli stats for the account. This however had a bug, if account had not logged in before on earlier versions of Mörköpeli, which lead to failed login attempts. This bug has now finally been fixed and it works on the latest version as it should. I am sorry that this has been unnoticed for so long and I apologise for the inconvinience.

Update:
The issue was fixed on November 20th 2023 but at some point later it re-emerged and got fixed again today ... I am sorry.

Due to relocation of server hardware, Mörköpeli's multiplayer proxy server service is going offline. Offline time begins on Friday 20th of October and the service comes back online again on Monday 23rd on normal schedule.

Problems with automated emails that started around new year 2023 should now be fixed.
We apologize for this issue and inconvinience caused by it.

Mörköpeli 1.7 has been released!
It is functionally the same as old 1.6 version, except it boasts the theme of 2.3!
Unfortunately the game is only available in finnish, sorry about that!

Mörköpeli 2.3.3 has been released and the main highlight is the ability to play multiplayer via proxy server!
This means that neither player needs to forward their port in order to play!

Additionally: Game results sent after June had missing map images when using older than 2.3.2.5 versions. Problem has now been fixed and map images in results should now be visible in any new and old submissions. This problem affected about three hundred submissions.

Our previous host broke their service for us at the beginning of last month which rendered our site unusable. Communication with them was slow and eventually it became clear that the change on their side was intentional and they were not willing to co-operate in order to fix it for us. Month long downtime that followed included of finding a new host, making a contract, trasfering domain and data plus all the necessary prep-work to get things up and running again.

On September I started working on this vanity project which I call Hallow Woods. It was to become a bonus game type to Mörköpeli and now it is part of the game's latest version! Rávdnár has not forgotten his last misfortune and he has resorted in some questionable methods in order to gain access to the mystical stone.

We have adopted TLS-encryption on our website. This means that http-protocol headers are translated to https-addresses by default. This was a necessary step in order for us to offer user accounts on our website securely. This update does affect some of our services negatively however.

Which services no longer work?

Games which no longer are able to submit results to global highscores:

Mörköpeli - versions 2.2.0.4 ja 2.2.0.5

Games Bounce Ball and ItikkaPeli feature TLS-compliant versions 1.0.0.3 and 1.1.3.7 respectively
Upcoming Mörköpeli 2.3 will support this TLS-update and will utilize the new user accounts.

User accounts, why do they exist?

Mörköpeli 2.3 will allow linking submitted results to a user account. Also the game will feature achievements that can only be unlocked when logged in with VtvStudio-user account in-game.

It should not have been unclear that Mörköpeli's original theme included copyrighted material which we had no permission to use from their respective holders. We have been contacted concerning these copyright issues and we have removed the possibility to download the game from our website. The case is still open but our goal is to re-release the game after we have implemented necessary changes to make it no longer infringe copyrights of any other party.

Mörköpeli will most likely be able to retain its original name and we have begun our work in order to restore it back to downloadable games. The game will feature totally new theme while game mechanics staying the same.

This update will probably be the last to bring new features to Mörköpeli. Highlights: difficulty setting for single player and global highscores.

Two years ago when the new version of the site launched the games section was lost with the games. I promised to bring them back soon, but we all know how that turned out. Mörköpeli 2.1 was released a year later 13 December 2016 and now exactly one year after that, finally the whole games section back. At least in principle.

Old "classics" such as: Bounce Ball (7th year anniversary edition), Bounce Ball 4 - The Revolution, ItikkaPeli (finnish), Dodge Master and Christmas Cannon. Bounce Ball and ItikkaPeli was bought with their highscores, but without the old results.

Later this month or in early January 2018.

Due to recent attention spike towards Mörköpeli, we decided to make at least one more update. The update leans heavily towards fixing known bugs and making some quality of life changes, but it also includes couple of new features as well. Read more about the changes and download the game here.

We are continuing to work on our new (almost two years old) unfinished website after a fairly long standstill. It is better at this point that not to mention any specific upcoming feature. Check back before the end of the year.

As always things get delayed here in VtvStudio, but still we were able to bring this game project to the finish line before end of the year. It has been a while since our last update in January and no content has been brought back yet. The games section will be added with Mörköpeli 2.0 later this month (hopefully).

We have had much talk about updating the site for the last four years. Previous version of the website was written back in 2009, so it was a high time to move on. The old site is now completely scrapped with all the content in it, which means that all previous links to the site no longer work.

Our website is now viewable in English for the first time in ten years. We used to have an English section in 2005 but let´s face it, it was pretty horrible. We hope that this time our site will have less problems with grammar and be overall more comprehensible.

The website is up, but some of our content is not yet available. For example the games section is completely unavailable. The games section is our current priority and will be available in the near future.

However, all our comics are already available!
